Volunteer with Rossvale

Start on the touchline. See how far you go.

Rossvale runs on over 100 volunteers. Some help at training on a Wednesday night. Some are working towards UEFA licences. Every one of them is the reason 700 young people get to play football every week.

Football for everyone

Without enough coaches, teams close and waiting lists grow. Every new volunteer is another squad that gets to play.

Safe, well-run sessions

Every volunteer is PVG checked and trained in child wellbeing and protection. That is what makes the club safe for families.

A clear pathway

Players move from first touch to first team because coaches at every stage know what they are building towards.

A growth mindset

It applies to coaches too. Hard work, positivity and learning from mistakes, whether you are running warm-ups or studying for a licence.

Good mental health

Being part of a team is good for the adults as well. Many of our volunteers say it is the best part of their week.

Scottish FA coaching pathway

From parent helper to UEFA licence

The Scottish FA runs a single coaching pathway, from a first introductory course through to the UEFA Pro Licence. As a Platinum Legacy club, Rossvale supports its coaches onto that pathway. Where you stop is up to you.

  1. Grassroots

    Introduction to Coaching

    Scottish FA Level 1.1

The starting point. A short course covering how to run a safe, fun session. The minimum for assistant coaches at a Platinum club.

  2. Grassroots

    Children's and Youth pathways

Scottish FA Levels 1.2 and 1.3

Age-specific coaching for the players you work with. Level 1.3 is the standard for head coaches at every Rossvale team.

  3. Grassroots

    UEFA Grassroots Leader Award

Recommended for a quarter of all coaches

For coaches who want to lead others, shape a section of the club and mentor new volunteers.

  4. UEFA

    UEFA C Licence

    The first UEFA licence

The step from grassroots into the UEFA pathway, and a natural next move for our Development and Performance Pathway coaches.

  5. UEFA

    UEFA B Licence

    Advanced coaching

Advanced coaching for senior and elite youth football.

  6. UEFA

    UEFA A and Pro Licences

    Professional level

The qualifications held by coaches in the professional game. Not for everyone, but the route is there.

In their words

What volunteering at Rossvale looks like, from someone doing it.

I believe I have helped players develop not only their football ability, but also their confidence and character. I particularly enjoy encouraging players to step outside their comfort zones and believe in themselves.
